What is Calcium propionate?
Calcium propionate is a safe and reliable food and feed preservative approved by the World Health Organization(WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).Like other fats, calcium propionate can be metabolized by humans and animals, providing them with essential calcium.
Natural Calcium propionate is a natural food preservative produced by fermentation of naturally selected Calcium propionate bacteria. Results from testing with "radioactive carbon" (C14) at the American "Beta" laboratory show that it is 100% natural.
In acidic mediums (starch, protein and fat substances), it has a strong inhibitory effect on various molds, Gram-negative bacteria or aerobic spores, can inhibit the production of aflatoxin,and is harmless to yeast, humans and animals without toxic side effects. It is a new, safe efficient preservative for food, brewing, feed, traditional Chinese medicine
formulations and other fields.
