Properties: 
Tetrapotassium pyrophosphate is in white powder or granular. Relative density 2.534 g/cm3 and melting point 1109°C; Tetrapotassium pyrophosphate is apt to absorb humidity in the open air to deliquescent; Soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol, and at 25°C,its solubility in water is 187g/100g water; Tetrapotassium pyrophosphate  can chelate with alkaline metals ions or heavy metal ions.

Usage:
Tetrapotassium pyrophosphate mainly applied to electroplating without cyanate, industrial or household detergents; It can used as a buffering reagent as well as stabilizer; It can also be used as dispersion agent for ceramic, clay, latex and pigments etc.

Storage and Transport:

Tetrapotassium pyrophosphate should be stored in a ventilative and dry warehouse instead of in the open air, kept away from water, moisture and sunlight during transport, handled with care, so as to avoid damage to plastic bags. Water-soluble, colorless crystals; dehydrates below 300.C, melts at 1090.C; used in tin plating, china-clay purification, dyeing, oil-drilling muds, and synthetic rubber production. Also known as normal potassium pyrophosphate, tetrapotassium pyrophosphate.

Potassium pyrophosphate has excellent chelating capability. It can form stable chelates with Ca2+ and Mg2+ in hard water to soften hard water, to increase washing capability, to remove dirt, and to form a layer of protection film on metal (like iron and other metals) surface preventing surface corrosion. P2O74- has strong dispersion capability to micro-dispersed solids, enabling homogenous mixture of tiny and fine matters. Its stable pH buffer capability maintains long-term solution pH value. Product is easy to dissolve in water, its solubility is 187 g/100mL at 25.C.

Tetrapotassium Pyrophosphate is mainly used in plating without cyanide and bleaching leather products as stabilizer. Under two special conditions, potassium pyrophosphate must be utilized: first is heavy - dirt deterging in controlling foam; second is cleaning metal surface.
