Chlorinated paraffins are organic compounds and chlorinated derivatives of paraffins. They have the advantages of low volatility, flame retardancy, good electrical insulation and low price, and can be used as flame retardants and PVC auxiliary plasticizers. It is widely used in the production of cable materials, floor materials, hoses, artificial leather, rubber and other products. And additives used in polyurethane waterproof coating, polyurethane plastic runway, lubricating oil, etc.
On October 27, 2017, the list of carcinogens published by the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization was preliminarily collated and referenced. The average carbon chain length of C12 and the average chlorinated paraffin with an average chlorination degree of about 60% were included in the list of Category 2B carcinogens.
